Adorable

You're all probably sick of this series of photos by now, but I'm having so much fun scrapping them! I think this is the last one though :D 

I used some of the last scraps of the Crate Paper 'Peppermint' collection on this one - I love this collection so much I've got barely any left, I particularly love that even though it's a Christmas themed line, there are plenty of papers that work for any layout. The only additions are the alphas from Sassafras and stamps from My Minds Eye. 

I'm having a lovely lazy Sunday crocheting little flowers to use on future scrapping projects. I'm thinking of opening a Folksy shop to sell some of them - is it the kind of thing you would buy? If anyone has any experience of selling through Folksy I'd love to hear from you - either in the comments below, or if you'd prefer to email me it's scrappingmojodesigns@gmail.com. Thanks!

Chew & Chew & Chew & Chew & Chew & Chew

I recently ordered a load of Studio Calico stash from Sarah's Cards, including the '&' mask. I decided to use it as a template rather than a mask, and created this patchwork '&' on a Kraft background.

I didn't really have anything else in mind, I just knew I wanted to create a patchwork '&'! Fortunately I managed to find this series of photos of Mojo chewing a bone, and added the word 'chew' in several different alphas.

To say I didn't really have a plan for this layout, I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out! 

Sleepy Kitty

This week's challenge over at The Studio is a sketch created by our very own Anna, and it's a fab one! 

I've gone Marcy Penner-esque again for this one, she has a style that I've totally clicked with - the plain white background, black ink splatters and muted colours. I used the gorgeous woodgrain paper from the Crate Paper 'Peppermint' collection as my main background, and added a smaller square of plain white card on top, sewed around the edges and splattered some ink.

Then I went mad with some Studio Calico papers, and two different punches - a 1" circle punch, and a hole punch (I used the waste from this to create my smaller circles). I arranged my circles across the page, and adhered each one with a drop of glossy accents. Finally I added the photo over the top of the circles, with a couple of stamped highlights on the left hand side. I used a couple of the larger circles as a frame for my title, which is made with Studio Calico exclusive Basic Grey alpha stickers.

Smile!

I'm a bit late posting this - it's been up on the Truly Madly Crafty blog for a week now! This is my latest 'One Word, One Technique' project - the word was 'smile' and the technique was stamping. This combination made me think about stamping on layout, and how I don't really do it enough, so I grabbed a photo of Mojo which I thought would work well with the word 'smile' in the title, my favourite set of My Minds Eye stamps from the Lost & Found 2 collection and my little alpha stamps, and this is the result: 

I splashed some black ink onto the white card and then built up the border on the left hand side. The MME stamp set contains three different banner stamps, which I've stamped with black archival ink at various intervals along the edge. I then cut some banner pieces from Hambly washi tape and filled in the gaps.

I added three more strips of the washi tape for the photo and title to sit on, some stamped hearts from the MME stamp set, and some Studio Calico butterflies. I used Studio Calico alpha stickers for the main title, and added the subtitle with the small alpha stamps.

Those of you who are regular readers will know that Mojo usually poses for the camera, and always looks like she's smiling, but for some reason on the day I took this photo she was in a sulk and wouldn't pose for me - hence my title!

Cutie

The February challenge is up at Truly Madly Crafty, and this month Maxine wants to see projects with 'ribbon and bling'. Ribbon, yep no problem, bling...not so much! I definitely had to get my thinking cap on for this one!

I started with the ribbon - I got this lovely seam binding in a Sampler kit, and I got so much that I hadn't used it all. I was originally just going to use one colour, but the three of them looked so gorgeous together, and worked really well with the Crate Paper 'Emma's Shoppe' papers and border stickers. I chose a photo of Mojo that had some white space on one side, so that I could tie the ribbons round without obscuring the image. I trimmed them to size and added three of the ends to the right hand side of the photo, for balance. 

So, I had the ribbon, the papers and border stickers from CP, a couple of die cuts from a Pink Paislee ephemera pack, and those gorgeous burlap chipboard alphas, but what to do about the bling?

I had another rummage around in my stash, and cmae up with a pack of Teresa Collins 'Blingage', which contained some black gems. Perfect! Subtle bling is definitely something I can do - so I added some black ink splatters and dotted a few of the black gems in and among. Job done!

Roses Are Red...

This week's challenge over at The Studio is to scrap about love without using hearts. As my DH is somewhat camera shy (and has told me I'm not allowed to use photos of him on anything that will appear on this blog) I have to be a bit more inventive when I'm creating layouts about the two of us! 

I've used lots of Studio Calico, with a bit of Hambly washi tape and my favourite MME stamp set (from the Lost & Found 2 collection). I was also brave enough to use my sewing machine to stitch on a layout for the first time! I've used it for mini books so far, but not on an actual layout. I'm reasonably pleased with the result, but I definitely need to practise sewing in a straight line!
